Review:

The Rubbermaid horizontal storage shed is great for hiding your rubbish bins out of sight. The polyethylene construction gives it an appealing, neat look but also makes it easy to clean with a pressure washer or garden hose. It can be easily installed in around 30 minutes.

The floor (included) helps keep all your items clean and dry, and the lockable doors help keep your items safe. (Although the shed may also need further securing depending on the resourcefulness of your local pest (raccoon) population.)

To allow easy access, the roof hinges along with the front doors. This allows you to easily see, and get in and out what you want. Although with all the moving parts the Rubbermaid horizontal storage shed feels a little flimsy.

Issues:

We recommend that the shed sit on level ground, and is either fixed to the ground, or is weighted down to have the shed doors operate as they should. If the ground is not level during construction, some of the parts may not interlock properly either.

The shed does not deal well with heavy or extreme weather conditions. Under harsh conditions (and if surrounded by snow), the gaps in the doors will allow water to get in. However the solid roof will keep the vast majority of the rain out. It is best installed where it is at least partly shaded from the elements such as wind, sun, rain and snow.

It is also important to note that if you live in a windy area, the latches should be used to stop the doors from blowing open in heavy winds. If you expect heavy winds, then we also recommend that the shed be fixed to the ground.

Inside there is space for a shelf, however the shelf isn’t provided and cannot be bought separately from Rubbermaid. It can be cut out of timber at a local hardware store (Lowes etc.)

There is also no choice in colors, and Rubbermaid only make 16 and 32 cubic foot version.

Our Verdict:

For the price the Rubbermaid horizontal plastic storage shed is quite large inside, and will give you peace of mind, and an easily accessible place to store your clutter.
