Ryans Shed Plans Review

Why You Should and Should NOT Get a Copy of Ryans Shed Plans

Some people love it, and some people don't like it at all...

That is, after they have purchased Ryan's Shed Plans

To help with the confusion, I have put this detailed review together to help answer any questions about Ryan's Shed Plans that you may have

I would like to make it clear that although I did buy Ryan's Shed Plans myself, I do recieve a commission if you purchase the product after clicking the links on this page

DON'T WORRY though, the price doesn't change if you buy through a link on this or any other website, or even if you type it into your browser yourself

The commission goes into helping make better resources around Garden DIY and shed building...

Anyhow enough of the fine print, lets destruct Ryan's Shed Plans and find out what's really included with the product and what the plans are really like

Support

We Like:

  • The price is very reasonable for this amount of plans
  • The detail of some of the plans is fantastic
  • A lot of bonuses

We Don't Like:

  • We can't find 12,000 shed plans which is what we are purchasing
  • Some plans aren't detailed enough in our opinion
  • The extra purchases Ryan wants you to make

Summary: A good affordable resource of shed plans that everyone can afford. However, this collection of shed plans isn't as comprehensive as Ryan makes out, and finding what you want can take some effort.

What is the Biggest Issue With the Plans?

There are some people unhappy with this product after they purchase it. In fact after reading through some comments some people are even offended!

The reasons that people aren't happy seems to be:

  • There are a lot of plans for sheds and other things. However, I can't seem to find all of the 12,000 shed plans in the package
  • When you buy you get asked to upgrade a lot... which can be off putting and confronting for some people
  • As you can see in my 'unboxing' video the membership site looks dated which can put people off a bit
  • It can take some time to find the shed plan that you want (20 minutes and you will have it sussed out with our tips below)
  • Some of the plans don't provide as much detail as people may expect. The promotional freebies of Ryan's Shed Plans are really good. Not all the plans are as detailed and carefully constructed.

The main issue is people don't feel like they are getting what they ordered (less shed plans, not as detailed as they thought etc.). But when you compare Ryan's offering to what else is available, you see what good value it is...

And although I dont think there are 12,000 shed plans in the package, there are A LOT OF PLANS. Many times more than one person will ever build for themselves

Buying a custom plan would cost you around $250 which is over 6 times more than Ryan's collection of shed plans

And buying an off the shelf plan (something like this) from Amazon would set you back $10. So doing that 4 times already puts you over the price of Ryan's Shed Plans

So for $37, the value in Ryan's offering is very good

Where do the plans come from?

Ryan says that he writes the plans and im sure that he does some

However a lot of them seem to be from different sources... i.e. universities, magazines (such as better homes and gardens), and various websites

I assume that Ryan has bought the copyright to these plans, the copyright has expired or there never was a copyright on them in the first place

But to be honest, it doesn't really matter to me who provides, writes, draws or creates the plans (as long as it's all legal)

As long as the plans are easily understood and show how to build a great sturdy shed that will last

What are the quality of the plans like?

Ryans Shed Plans Contents Guide on Shed Plan

This set of plans is very detailed and even comes with a contents guide

The plans are detailed in the most part...

The plans generally include elevation drawings, sizes and annotations (notes on the drawings)

Some are very detailed and even provide a step-by-step guide, 3-D drawings along with photos taken mid construction of the shed. Along with material and cutting lists, a glossary of terms, as well as hints and tips of shed building

Some are simple. They are scanned construction and elevation plans without any of the added extras. (They are plans to get a permit)

Although all the detail may be on the plans to build a shed, they aren't all friendly for the new person getting started

Ryans Shed Plan Review Detailed Shed Plan

Although they do show detail, some plans aren't as comprehensive and aren't suggested for the beginner shed builder

What happens when you buy the plans?

Firstly if you haven't watched the unboxing video at the top of the page, then it is a screen recording of me going through the process of purchasing the plans

But in a quick summary, you are taken to a page where you put your details and and payment method. Then enter your details (or login to Paypal).

When that is done Ryan takes you through 3 pages where he offers some upgrades on the plans... Upgraded plans i think he calls it, then outdoor plans and then everything he sells he offers you

After that you check your email and he will send you a link to the membership section of the site where you download the plans you want.

**NOTE - You can't download everything in one go. The plans are in bundles of 10-20. You need to go down the page and download what you want. (It might take 20 minutes if you want to download all the plans including the bonuses.)

Navigating through the plans

The plans are generally easy to follow if you use these steps:

  • Scroll down and read the entire page when you get access to it
  • Right click and save the plans that you want to your computer
  • Use Chrome internet browser or Adobe Reader to open and read the plans on your computer
  • Use the FIND search bar (Hold Ctrl + F on windows, Cmd + F on Mac) function to find any particular plans in the large multi-plan documents

Because of how many plans there are, some users get frustrated at trying to find what they want. But if you follow the steps above, you will find what you are looking for if it is there.
